Point in Time (PIT) Count
The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. The IAC leads the Salem County PIT count. The PIT Count provides us with information on our homeless population. It tells us many how long individuals have been homeless for and where they stay. It also tells the characteristics of people including race, disability status, and age. The PIT Count also gives people the opportunity to tell their story and provides us with feedback on housing services in the county. With that feedback we are able to determine what is working and what is not working. Our volunteers conduct surveys and provide resources and care packages. Please see our volunteer application if you would like to volunteer for the 2021 PIT Count under volunteer with us.
